Party Game

Each night, we have the "Party" and they play all kinds of games on the stage. This night, several of our girls were called up to play this game - Paper Eating. The kids all love it!

Heading out to tracks!

The kids are thoroughly enjoying all their tracks - even though it's hot! They are meeting new friends and learning some fun things. They will have tons to tell you when they get home.

Day 2 - Centri Kid 2010

Today was a great day for all the kids because they got to start their tracks.  They were all so excited to go do things like football, babysitting 101, weird science, kitchen chaos, Wet & Wld, and so many more.  They also got to climb "rec hill" for the first time today.  It's really hard to explain in words just how steep and tall that hill is but it really should be given another name because it might be the closest that any of us will ever come to mountain climbing.  The kids had a great time up there during recreation time and then a lot of them were back up there for the outdoor tracks.  Most of the kids have made several new friends and are having a great time getting to know their Bible study group leaders.  One of our favorite things about CentriKid is how involved the CK staff is with the kids even outside the structured times.  They hang with the kids at the ice cream shop and spread out through the crowd at meal times so the kids really get to form a great connection with them.
Most kids had the chance to call home today and some sent text messages because they're afraid hearing their parent's voice will make them homesick, but if you didn't get either then comment on this post and I'll make sure to track them down tomorrow.  Overall, we haven't had any cases of severe homesickness and every kid is really enjoying CentriKid.  I know they will have so much to tell you when they get home!

Day 1 - Centri Kid 2010

It only took 10.5 hours to make it but we finally arrived in Ridgecrest, NC.  We had a great time on the long bus ride, watching movies and getting to know each other a little better.  We arrived on campus about 3:50pm, just 10 minutes before the registration deadline.  After a quick orientation for all the campers, we unloaded the bus and literally threw our bags in the room before heading to supper.  We had a quick supper and then headed to Opening Ceremonies.  The kids (& chaperones) had a great time "dancing" with Jeff Slaughter before heading out to meet their Bible Study Group.  They returned for the "Party" and got to cheer for the boys or girls teams during some exciting team games.  We then headed to our church group time and everyone got to share a little and get all the 411 on camp stuff.  As soon as they heard the words "see you in about 30 minutes" they were all off to find the ice cream shop.  The night was super short and we are sorry not many phone calls got made.  The short free time tonight and the very, very poor cell phone reception here just made it impossible to talk to many parents.  But PLEASE do not worry!  Every child is really having a great time!  We will hopefully get to make all the phone calls tomorrow.  I'm going to attempt to upload a few of the videos from today but if not tonight, then tomorrow morning.  7am is definitely going to be here too soon!
